I have made a couple of crochet ghosts for the upcoming Halloween. Our boys don’t have half-term until next week so we have not started Halloween yet, however, it will come soon.
I was in Denmark last week and got a lot of cotton yarn leftovers from my mum. The leftover yarn had a lot of different qualities and there was not very much of any of them. Those leftovers are perfect for small projects like these ghosts.
Different blogs have pictures of ghosts like these, however, I have not been able to find a description of how to make them. Therefore I made my own and you can find that one in the end of this post.
The big ghosts are made out of a thick quality of yarn and a crochet hook no 5.
The small ghosts are made with a hook no. 2.5 and yarn with is probably meant for embroidery.
The eyes and the mouths are sewn with black yearn, but you could also use black felt depending on which look you want.
Ghosts DIY
Below I have described how I have made my ghosts, however, it can be adjusted to your needs:
End each round with a slip stitch.
- Make a magic ring with 6 chains
- Make 2 dc in each stitch in the ring
- *1 dc in the first dc, 2 dc in the 2 nd dc*, repeat *-* the rest of the round
- Make 4 rounds with 1 dc in each stitch
- *5 dc, 2 dc in 1 dc*, repeat *-* the rest of the round
- Make 1 round with 1 dc in each stitch
- *6 dc, 2 dc in 1 dc*, repeat *-* the rest of the round
- Make 1 round with 1 dc in each stitch
- *7 dc, 2 dc i en dc* repeat *-* the rest of the round
- *1 dc, 2 dc i en dc* repeat *-* the rest of the round
I have never written a crochet description before so I hope it is understandable anyway.
