These Christmas cards with flowers are made with bullion stitches on cut-outs with flower motifs. I have already made several posts with embroided Christmas cards and I was not planning more this year. All the Christmas cards in the shop has, however, been sold and as I want to write some cards myself I have to get started again.
The bullion flowers on these cards have got company of french knots in gold threat to give a festive look. The background on both cards are cut out of some of the Christmas cards which we received last year.
These golden cards are also flower cut-outs with embroided bullion flowers. It is always interesting to make bullion stitches as the flowers decide themselves how they are going to look. I never plan beforehand how the final result is going to look it kind of develops as the work progress.
The red card with the green heart does not fit into the Christmas cards with flowers category. I have added it here, however, as I think it is quite beautiful. The heart is embroided with weaving stitches on a cut-out of a plate. The red background is from one of the cards we got last year which begged to be re-used. I enjoy re-using the old Christmas cards as it gives the new cards individual looks which you can’t get if you use ‘new’ materials.
