I thing we all know how it is – you start a project but never get it finished. There is always a couple of unfinished projects which are waiting for the right idea to come along. The other day I finally managed to finish one of these projects. A couple of embroideries from last summer have now been used as decoration on a couple of recycled storage boxes.
The embroideries were sewn on small pieces of old jeans fabric and were embroidered last summer. Since the embroideries were made they have been forgotten – but now they have been rediscovered. The small embroideries have been sewn together with other small leftovers of upcycled jeans. Finally the fabric has been glued onto the lid of a couple of solid cardboard boxes. The cardboard boxes have been saved over time thinking that they might be useful at some point in time. The easiest way to glue the fabric onto the boxes is to use spay glue, however, if you don’t have spay glue than I’m sure normal glue is just fine.
You have to be careful when you make the corners so that they don’t get too chunky. Additionally it will be difficult to close the boxes if there is too much fabric inside the lid. I have basically cut most of the corner fabric off so that there is only a small overlap.
The new recycled storage boxes is now being used to store zippers and old corks. I don’t know what to used the corks for but I’m sure some ideas will come later.
