The other day I found this old mini loom which my grandmother bought sometime back in the 50’s. I have for a while been wanting to try to weave so this was a perfect opportunity. The loom is quite small, the sides are only 7.5 cm. I have been experimenting a bit and it is actually a fun process where you quickly see the final result. The difficult part is to find something to use the squares for.
I used a very thin cotton yarn in two different colours for the weaving. There is an infinite number of patterns you can weave, but as this is my first encounter with a loom I choose four simple versions. The result is four different squares with both stripes and checks.
The squares from the mini loom ended up being sewn onto larger squares of jeans fabric. The jeans fabric is recycled old jeans in different colours. All the squares have been sewn together to form a larger piece of fabric (40 x 40 cm). I don’t know yet what the fabric is going to end up as, but I hope that you will see the final result in a post in the near future.
