It has been a bit quiet on the blog the last couple of weeks while we have enjoyed a great vacation. Now Easter is here and I have made a couple of easter eggs out of upcycled plastic and some leftover wool.
The idea for the eggs came when we bought some new mixing bowls. The packing for the bowls was thin, transparent plastic which was begging to be upcycled. The eggs are cut out of the plastic in different sizes. The center of the eggs is removed appx. 1 cm from the edge, in order to enable crocheting from both sides. Finally ‘crochet holes’ are made all the way around the egg and now you can start the crochet work.
The eggs are crocheted with leftover wool in different colours. I have used very small leftovers, some of them only long enough for one round of crochet. The short leftover pieces of yarn ensures that all the eggs are unique. The eggs are crocheted with double crochet only and the variation between the eggs is the number of rounds.
My eggs out of upcycled plastic are now hanging on a couple of flowering branches in the living room and with that I will wish you all a fantastic Easter.
